This cookie notice (referred to as the “Notice”)
aims to provide you with information concerning how MTH uses cookies and
similar technologies on its website (referred to as the “Website”).

What are cookies and how are they used?
Cookies are small
pieces of information, normally consisting of just letters and numbers, which
online services (e.g. a website) provide when users visit them. Software (e.g.
a web browser) on the user’s device (e.g. a computer, telephone, tablet) can
store cookies and send them back to the website next time they visit.
Cookies are used in
numerous ways, such as:
·
remembering choices made by a user;
·
supporting users to log in to a website;
·
analysing traffic to a website; or
·
tracking users’ browsing behaviour.
Cookies can be useful
because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device and preferences.
They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently,
as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Without cookies,
or some other similar method, websites would have no way to ‘remember’ anything
about visitors, such as previous language choices made or whether they are
logged in.
What types of cookies are there?
Depending on
who manages them:
·
First-party cookies are set directly by the
website the user is visiting, i.e. “multihealthgroup.com”. For the Website, these
cookies are set and managed by MTH.
·
Third-party cookies are set by a domain
other than the one the user is visiting. This typically occurs when a website
incorporates elements from other sites, such as images, social media plugins or
advertising. When the browser or other software fetches these elements from the
other sites, they can set cookies as well. These cookies are not managed by MTH,
but by the third party that processes data obtained from them.
Depending
on their purpose:
·
Strictly Necessary Cookies:
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched
off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by
you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences,
logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you
about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These
cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
·
Functional Cookies:
These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and
personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose
services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then
some or all of these services may not function properly.
·
Performance Cookies: These
cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and
improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the
most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All
information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you
do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and
will not be able to monitor its performance.
·
Targeting Cookies:
These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may
be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you
relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal
information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet
device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted
advertising.
·
Social Media Cookies:
These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to
the site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks.
They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a
profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on
other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able
to use or see these sharing tools.
Depending
on the period for which they are stored:
Cookies that expire at the
end of a browser session (normally when a user exits their browser) are called
‘session cookies’. Cookies that can be stored for longer are called ‘persistent
cookies’.
·
Session cookies allow websites to
recognise and link the actions of a user during a “browsing session” (until the
user closes its browser).
They may be
used for a variety of purposes such as remembering a setting chosen by a user as they browse around a site. These
cookies can also be used for security purposes, such as when a user logs in to
an account. These session cookies expire after a session ends, so information
would not be stored beyond this period.
·
Persistent cookies are
stored on a user’s device across different browsing sessions. They can allow
the preferences or actions of the user across a site (or across different
websites) to be remembered. The length of time between a cookie being set and
expiry can be set by MTH or third parties, where third party cookies might be
used. A user can also delete previously set persistent cookies manually or
configure the browser settings to delete cookies at a set interval.
Persistent cookies may be
used for a variety of purposes including remembering users’ preferences and
choices when using a site beyond a browsing session or to target advertising.
How can you accept, refuse or configure the
cookies on the website?
