The design of a clinical study corresponds to the methodology chosen to conduct a clinical study with a view to answering a defined medical research question.
The main aim is to guarantee the scientific validity, reproducibility and reliability of the results, while minimising potential bias.
There are various well-known types of study design, such as randomised controlled trials and observational studies.
In addition to these classics, there are also adaptive or specific designs that can be used to optimise the conduct of the trial, guaranteeing both the safety of the participants and the robustness of the conclusions.
